Newborn Studio Session | Aysleigh

Portraits

July 14, 2020

I had the absolute honor of having Aysleigh in the studio for her newborn session and couldn’t wait to share this session on the blog! Aysleigh’s mom Casey and I met through our parents growing up so I have quite literally known her for what feels like (and is very close to) forever!

I have been honored to capture many memories for her family, long before kids were involved – from couples sessions, their engagement and Casey’s bridal portraits, all the way to now family pictures! I am lucky enough to get a pretty close view at their life since my daughter Reagan and Aysleigh are 3rd cousins, but being able to take these kind of forever pictures of their family is something I cherish. Have I mentioned that I LOVE my job before?!?!

Aysleigh was as perfect and as content for her session as she looks and I couldn’t get enough of her! It’s so true that babies don’t keep – I love to capture every perfect little detail for a baby’s family to cherish forever.

So, what’s a newborn studio session like? I’m so glad you asked! 🙂

First, we talk all about your inspiration for the theme and colors – If there is enough time between the first contact and the session, this gives me a chance to order things that I may need to bring everything about your newborn session dreams to life! I have quite the selection of props, decor and outfits but if you’ve got a specific look in mind, I do my best to accommodate it!

The visitors are limited to the parents and/or a 2 person limit, for a couple of reasons! We want baby to be comfortable, calm and….well, sleeping. In order to really knock a newborn session out of the park, the studio is warm. As in, ultra-comfortable to a newborn baby and hot as H-E-DOUBLEHOCKEYSTICKS warm to an adult (about 83 degrees warm to be exact). Extra bodies only mean more heat and less space to work the magic. One thing I really love about having a studio in my home is that I can offer you a comfortable place to kick back, relax and even watch TV if you want to while I work through the session. Babies are unpredictable of course so sessions can range from 1-4 hours — Yes, I WILL gladly sweat in an 83 degree studio to produce the most perfect images of your baby!

Once your session is scheduled you’ll receive a list of tips and things to do the day of your session to help it to run smoothly – then, it’s session time!

Once the session is complete you can expect a sneak peek 1-2 days following the session and a complete gallery within a couple of weeks!

My absolute favorite thing about a newborn session is the excitement the parents express over the pictures. Baby is perfect and so peaceful… and so tiny! Witnessing how the parents gush over all of that is so fun to experience. I seriously never, ever get tired of that!

Are you expecting your bundle(s) of joy and searching for a newborn photographer? I would love to be considered as your newborn photographer! I do all I can to ensure a wonderful experience and would be honored to provide you with your newborn’s first photo shoot!

Xoxo- Ashley
