The day I brought my sweet Reagan earthside, I knew instantly that my world was completely changed for the better. There is NOTHING like the feeling of meeting your baby for the first time and you are very literally never the same after, in almost every way. So much about being a mom is challenging but all of it is rewarding!
Their needs come before yours.
Their wants come before yours.
You don’t sleep the same.
You worry more.
You want a break, but can’t wait to see them again when you get one.
On the rare occasion that you relax in the bath, you think you hear crying the whole time.
Literally, everything is different. And better! We are selfless beings, us moms. And we come from selfless beings, our moms.
Don’t you find that you appreciate your mom so. much. more after having kids of your own? Like, you know you always loved and cherished them but you like reeeeeally love and cherish them now as a mom yourself because you are seeing first hand how much they truly sacrificed for you!
Last year was especially hard for our family – my mom spent so many days in the hospital, at one point on a ventilator (life support)… and all very suddenly. During that time her home, my childhood home, was set on fire and burned completely to the ground. So much to process.
This Mother’s Day and every year following, I have such a different outlook. I celebrate harder, I love deeper and I don’t miss near as many opportunities to let my mom know how much she means to me.
I hope all of us moms are loved and cherished every day, but especially today!
“All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my Mother.”
Happy Mother’s Day to some of the best group of people in the world!
