In-Studio | Newborn Portrait Session
In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve started sharing more of my portrait work on the blog lately, rather than just weddings. My hope is to shine a light on all the magic that comes from my studio, and hopefully attract more fun souls who enjoy my work to come join the fam! Seeing it all start to come together has been bringing me so much joy.
Speaking of joy, I had the sweetest little bundle of perfection make her debut behind my camera the other day! My childhood best friend, Jessie recently gave birth to her second beautiful daughter, and I was so excited to finally get my hands on her. There’s something so special about watching your friends grow into mothers, and then having the honor of documenting their children’s memories. It’s like discovering a new layer of beauty. A new level of realness. A new level of love.
Miss Daphne Rose certainly did not disappoint during her first closeup, but for all you future moms out there who are planning a newborn shoot- please know that YOUR GIRL COMES PREPARED FOR ANYTHING! lol I’ve worked with newborns for so many years now that I’ve truly seen it all. Don’t let “first-timer fears” get in the way of capturing this delicate time in your baby’s journey. Take a look at my favorites from this session and reach out with any questions!!!
This princess looks so pretty in peaches and pinks! We picked out a few versatile, solid wraps to start her session off with, and they easily turned into favorites. Miss Daphne really loved being swaddled, so we leaned into that to get us started.
Crib shots make me happy, so I squeeze them in whenever possible. There’s something about the contrasting sizes of the big crib and little baby that really captures how tiny they are for such a short time. Our little darling even opened her eyes for one, which of course, I’m still ooooing and awwwing over. I think someone is about to be a ham for the camera!
This sleepy, blue setup was so dreamy and went so perfectly with the matching floral bow we picked out. Baby eyelashes never fail to steal the show in snuggly sessions like this, so you already know I had to snag a closeup.
White is the color of purity and innocence, so I love to work it in with newborn sessions to capture that fresh, new baby essence and let my subject’s natural beauty do all the talking. Daphne’s fine baby hairs and perfect little lips had me cooing the entire time! I think the bucket shot is my favorite from this set!
Daphne Rose,
You were such a delightful baby to photograph, little one! Your sister, mommy, and daddy are all so excited to finally have you here earth-side, and it was such a treat to finally meet you in person. Your mom and I go way back, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing lots more of each-other as you grow, over the years. Birthdays, milestones, holidays- you name it, kid. I’ll be there with a smile and my camera every step of the way!
And finally, to the viewers who are here to check out my newborn photography setup and style, I hope you’ll consider scheduling your session with me! I enjoyed this special time so much with my own daughter, and can easily attest to how often I still reference those photos and smile. Babies sure don’t keep, but photographs are forever!!
Here’s to celebrating new life and new beginnings!
Xo,
Ashley
